How we work
Four rules, and what they cost us.
Material first
We tell you what it is made of before we tell you what it does. Where a specification has come back from a laboratory, the page says so and gives the standard, the laboratory and the date. Where it has not, the page says pending rather than guessing. A figure with no band and no date is not a figure.
Explained, not promised
No promises about your health. A number you can check, and a source you can read. We will not tell you what a lens does for your sleep, your eyes or your concentration, because in this category the evidence for most of that does not exist, and repeating it would be the opposite of helping.
Bought once
Parts sold separately, for years. Lenses, cases and cloths can be ordered on their own. If one thing fails, you replace that thing.
Quiet over noise
No countdowns, no invented scarcity, no last-two-left. Nothing here exists to make you decide faster than you want to. At most one email a month, and only when there is something to say.
Where things are made
The frames and lenses are made to our specification by a manufacturer in China. We say that plainly because the alternative — leaving it out and letting a European brand name imply otherwise — is the kind of thing this site exists not to do.
What we select on is documents. A factory that can produce a materials certificate, a test report and a signed declaration of conformity is a factory that measures what it makes. One that sends a certificate number instead of the PDF is a trading company. That filter decides who we work with more than price does.
What we will correct
If the measurement in your box differs from the figure on this site, the paper is right and the page is wrong. Email us and we will change the page. That has to be the rule, or none of the rest of it means anything.
