Why we make this
We bought the glasses first. Then we started reading labels, and we could not stop.
We started Origo because we were tired of seeing people use so many badly made things, every day. What we want is simple: people who feel better in their own skin, and who live a little healthier and fitter.
We are Joep and Tymo. It started with a pair of blue-light glasses, because we wanted to sleep better and everyone said they helped.
Then we read the box. A percentage, and nothing else. Not which wavelengths, not how much light we would be giving up. We bought two more pairs. Same story.
That turned into a habit. We started reading what was in the bottle we drank from, the box we ate out of, the sheets we slept under. Most of it was plastic, and most of it was made to a price rather than made to last.
So we make a small number of things in glass, steel, silk and cotton — and we name what each one costs you. The lens takes light. The bottle sweats. Glass breaks. The strap is not silk. What that means for your evening is yours to work out. We would rather hand you the thing and the facts than a promise we cannot keep.
We are adding to the list slowly, one thing at a time, and only when we are sure of it. The aim is simple: to put better versions of ordinary things in as many homes as we can.
